Essential skills for a ninja

As I discussed a lot of skills in my previous blog on how to become a ninja? In this blog, I will explain some more skills that a ninja should learn. Below you will find the detail of these skills,


Fire and Explosives- Kayakujutsu:

  A ninja should need to be mastered on all the fire and explosive weapons. In Kayakujutsu, a ninja learned the art of using firearms, explosives, and gunpowder.
To hurt or injure their enemies, A ninja should be capable of utilizing these skills in both defensive and offensive forms. It was also used by Ninja to distract foes while entering or to distract while escaping.

Disguise and impersonation- Hensojutsu:

 Hensojutsu is closely tied with coho. It was a ninja technique of disguises and impersonation. It was also known as “The seven ways of going,” which means the Ninja would use disguise to impersonate one of seven people. The seven peoples were a samurai, a monk, craftsmen, a farmer, a performer, or even a normal person.
If a ninja wants to learn the Henso-Jutsu, he needs to use costume, acting, and it’s thought that Ninja was undergoing a spy or espionage mission.

Stealth and entering methods- Shinobi-iri:


 Shinobi-iri is the ninja art of stealth, entering and climbing. This was one of the most critical skills which makes a ninja successful. To master the shinobi-iri, there are five conventional methods which he needs to practice,
The allocation of a weak point and analysis of defense- Monomi no-Jutsu
  • A weakness in the staff- Nyudaki no-Jutsu
  • The art of concealing sound- Joei-on Jutsu
  • The use of an object to distract a guard- Yogi Gakure
  • The correct timing and moment of entering-Nyoukyo on-Jutsu
  • By mastering these five skills, the Ninja was able to choose the correct time, apply it to the weak point, and conceal their noise levels while distracting any guard.

Horsemanship- Bajutsu:


This is the art of horsemanship which covered a range of skills to be practiced and mastered. It includes two skills,
  • Proficiency in horse riding 
  • Horse riding with mounted combat
  • The care and upkeep of the horse
  • Learning technique through which one could teach his horse i.e., how to manage their reactions to certain situations?

Water skills and training- Sui-ren:



There are a lot of missions in which a ninja needs to swim. A ninja had to be mastered in all kind of water skills. Sui-ren allows the Ninja to utilize many water crossing tools. Through this skill, a ninja learns,
  •  How to hide by using water?
  • How to cross water effectively?

All these techniques have done in a stealthy manner, which helps Ninja to remain unnoticed.
Strategy- Bo-ryaku:
Bo-ryaku includes the training of a ninja in both traditional and untraditional methods. This skill covers,
  • Basics such as facing and defeating an opponent
  • Defeating many foes at once

Moreover, through this technique, a ninja trains himself to deal with large groups, overarching themes like politics and manipulation of current events and even situations.

Espionage and infiltration- Coho:


 Its an essential skill for a ninja. Coho was the ninja skill of espionage. This skill involves,
  • Answer the questions in a good manner
  • Saying the right words at the right time
  • Gain the confidence of anyone you need.

Escape and concealment- Inton-Jutsu:

Its the art of Ninja to disappear, escape and concealment. It means a ninja could quickly back away with speed and success and included the art of shinobi aruki, the stealth walking technique of the Ninja.

Ten-mon - Meterology:


The Ninja always tries to take advantage of every possible situation. Meterology is the skill of understanding the seasonal weather patterns and formations. It was common for the Ninja to understand not only the basics of meterology but subtle nuances and changes in the weather that they could use to their advantage.

Geography- chi-mon:

The key of success for a ninja, from long term espionage of spy mission, to a short term household raid, the Ninja needed to know the geography of the immediate landscape and even further afield.
